What Is Alpha?
Alpha is the opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed and friendly setting. It is free and open to anyone who wishes to attend. During each session, people enjoy great food, laughter and learning in an atmosphere where no question about life or God is unwelcome. Is there a God? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going? The Alpha course is held once or twice each year and meets once per week for ten weeks. Contact Kathy Nichols for additional information about the next Alpha course through the Church Office mainoffice@fccmadison.org.

Men’s Small Group

Gentlemen are you interested in participating in a men’s small group to share fellowship and discussions about scripture? Men of all ages and stages are welcome to participate in this friendly, informal gathering. This year the group is discussing passages from the Book of John. The men gather once each week from September to June before the start of the workday. Meetings are held in Hubley Hall over coffee and bagels and run forty-five to sixty minutes. Email Colin Reeve through the Church Office at mainoffice@fccmadison.org for details. |
Sundays in the Parlor
Bring your Bible and relax in an open and responsive environment as we all learn together. Join in reading selected scripture and then listen or participate in a lively and thought-provoking discussion that relates the verse to a deeper understanding of God, spirituality, and one’s ideas of faith. There is no weekly commitment, no homework, no pressure to talk, and absolutely no background in Bible scripture required. Themes covered this year include The Lord’s Prayer, Does the Devil Exist, Beatitudes, Forgiveness, 23rd Psalm, and others. This group meets in the parlor of Church House, on Sunday mornings from 9 to 9:45 am. and will restart in the Fall 2010. Contact Carol Peragine through the Church Office mainoffice@fccmadison.org for next year’s schedule.
** This group does not meet in the summer

The Women’s Connection
The Women’s Connection is a group for anyone and everyone, whether married, single, empty-nester, young or young-at-heart: all are welcome. The meeting begins with a time of getting to know one another, followed by a time of sharing, Devotional and prayer, and it ends with refreshments and fellowship. The intent of this group is to allow women to make connections with other women in our church; to find friendship and to grow in their personal connection with Christ. The Bible says “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil: For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help.” Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10.
This group meets at 7 pm on the first Wednesday of each month at the home of Beth Abbott. Email Beth for additional information at bethabbott@snet.net. |

Speaker Series |
Speaker Series
"Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.”Luke 6:37. The theme of tolerance is the focus for the Speaker Series planned for next year. We are inviting speakers from different religious backgrounds to talk with us about their beliefs to help us grow in our understanding of other faiths. |
