The monthly Worship on Wednesday service on September 20 will consider the question “What is a Church, anyway?” Margaret Sprague, a long-time member of the church, will pose the question in her message to the congregation. All are welcome to the service, starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel, located in the Franklin Bower Church House on Meetinghouse Lane. Refreshments will be served after the service.
Margaret and Kent Sprague and their children James Kenyon Sprague, Paul David Sprague and Cynthia Louise Sprague (Dreier) moved to Madison from California in 1973. Margaret’s contribution as a member of First Congregational Church includes: church council; vice-chair, personnel committee; chair, By-laws revision committees, Friday Nighters committee, outreach commission; producer & director, worship service telecast; chair, public relations committee, and program presentations and art projects for the Women’s League.
Her volunteer participation in Madison includes: American Assn. of University Women; Deacon John Grave Foundation, Girl Scouts of the USA, Madison Chamber of Commerce and Madison Community Television. Margaret’s career has included newspaper reporting and editing, publishing company management and, for the past 37 years, ownership of Two Ems, Inc., a print shop and paper store in downtown Madison.
